With the Festive Season now mostly a happy distant memory and the only evidence for some of us a slightly larger waistline…there is hope in Veganuary!
January rings in a New Year with new hopes, new ideas, new adventures and yes, new diets. After all the stuffed turkeys, gammons and other hearty meals over Christmas, why not go vegan for a bit?
What is Veganuary?
Veganuary is an annual event that takes place throughout the month of January and challenges people to go vegan for a month. It was started in 2014 by British entrepreneur Matthew Glover and animal rights campaigner Jane Land and is now officially run by the Veganuary charity.
Veganuary is supported by the likes of Hollywood star Joaquin Phoenix, Beatles legend Paul McCartney and TV wildlife presenter Chris Packham, and it is also supported by us, Mustard Foods.
In May 2021, a survey by The Vegan Society revealed 1 in 4 Brits had reduced the number of animal products they were consuming since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. 1 in 5 (20%) people said they had reduced the amount of meat they were eating while 12% said they’ve minimised their eggs and dairy intake.
